Big Screen Success With Comic Book Movies

The first comic book series to be adapted to the small screen was "Superman," which debuted as a TV series in 1966. It wasn't until 1966 when "Batman: the Movie" came out, later followed by "Superman: The Movie" in 1978, that the genre of full-length comic book movies really took off. The characters were so "real" to audiences that many say there will never be another Superman like Christopher Reeves or another Batman like Adam West.

While the 1995 movie "Batman Forever" (directed this time by Joel Schumacher) proved to be more financially successful than its predecessor, the critics weren't as generous and criticizing everything from the "hard-rubber bat suit" and "obviously fake, computer-generated Gotham City" to Tommy Lee Jones' "Harvey Dent knock-off" performance and the "predictable climax."

Nevertheless, audiences believed in comic book movies and they went to see the 1997 "Batman and Robin" in mass droves, bumping the comic book movie to #1 at the box office that week, and yet the aftermath was such an abysmal failure that "Batman" George Clooney offered to personally "refund anyone who had the misfortune of paying to see it." If it weren't for director Christopher Nolan's brilliant stroke of genius, the Schumacher legacy may have tainted the Batman franchise forever.

"You could tell having seen Iron Man and having seen Batman, that the writers and producers and directors now know how to treat these movies," Marvel Comic creator Stan Lee said.

He added that comic book movies will continue to get better and better with new technology and adaptations. Coming up in 2009 is Marvel's highly anticipated "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" prequel, starring Hugh Jackman, in addition to another "Punisher" movie. "Iron Man 2," "Thor," "The Avengers," "Spider-Man 4" and another "Captain America" are also reportedly in development for subsequent years.

As for DC, "The Spirit" and "The Watchmen" are set for release in 2008 and 2009, the latter of which has many comic book fans talking. Several more movies have been in development for the past few years, including: "Superman (reboot)," "The Green Lantern," "The Justice League of America," "Wonder Woman" and "Batman 3."

Finding Trailers To Watch Online Movies

Watch online movies to keep you entertained and open your mind to new ideas. There are movie trailers online for Hollywood films, advertising the movie, to help you make a decision to rush to the theater and watch the complete movie. If you are not sure if you should spend money and effort to watch the newest Hollywood blockbuster, then you can search online for the movie trailer to help you decide.

Another movie option is home movies online, covering a wide range of topics including showing people on vacation, talking a number of topics including politics, home improvements, cooking, gardening and almost any topic you need. If you want to know how to do a simple task at home, you can search for it on YouTube and you will find a number of movie clips, informing you how it is done.

If I want the complete movie, I would rather buy the DVD with all the extras, rather than waiting for long downloads of a complete movie. With the extras, you get shorts and dropped scenes and directors commentary on each scene, while the downloaded movie may give you grief if you download from a pirate site.

Watching online movie trailers is often much more informative, helping you make a decision if you wish to buy the movie on a disc to play in your home theater.

Action Against Movie Piracy

In August, the top 10 most coveted films in movie piracy world were Bruno, Inglorious Bastards, District 9, State of Play, The Hangover, Management, The Boat That Rocked, 17 Again, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Fighting.

Despite a lot of MPAA belly-aching that pirated copies of movies are severely cutting into their profit margins, the Box Office numbers suggest that people still really love going to the movies with their friends. For instance, Final Destination took in $28.3 million in its opening weekend; Inglorious Bastards - $19.6 million; and District 9 - $10.7 million.

Another overseas movie piracy proposal comes from Britain and France. In Europe, they're proposing mandates for Internet Service Providers to help fight illegal music downloads and movie downloads. Suspected online pirates will have their accounts slowed down and possibly even have their Internet access blocked.

"Digital piracy is a serious problem and a real threat to the U.K.'s creative industries," explains Geoff Taylor, chief executive of BPI, a group working to prevent illegal downloads of new music. "The solution to the piracy problem must be effective, proportionate and dissuasive."

Even though the U.S. Business Software Alliance supports imposing sanctions on those guilty of illegal downloads, it seems unlikely that such a heavy-handed strategy would be employed in America, just as the President and Vice President have announced efforts to expand broadband services to rural areas. Even so, it's an interesting suggestion to watch in the future.

Movie piracy continues to be a major headache for everyone in the entertainment industry. There seems to be little possibility of outsmarting every bootlegger around the world or stamping out every download of new movies.

Yet perhaps true movie lovers can be appealed to on a moral level. "I hear periodically, 'Well, Tom Cruise has enough money' or 'Tom Hanks has enough money,' " says John Malcolm director of worldwide anti-piracy operations for the Motion Picture Association of America.

"I would say to movie lovers, stick around and watch all of the credits. When you see the hundreds of names scrolling across the screen, those are the people whose talents contributed to making that movie, and they need to make a living."

Movie Trailer Makers

In 1916, Paramount became the first motion picture company to hire an in-house team of trailer makers. They saw great potential in splicing together the best scenes of their films to promote upcoming movies.

However, most movie houses outsourced the job to a group of NY ad executives at the National Screening Service. As a result, many trailers from the twenties through the sixties are very similar to one another.

In the sixties, more movie producers deviated from the structured NSS formula and sought to create their own divisions of trailers clips producers. Richard Kahn of Columbia House explained, "It's like the ebb and flow of the ocean: The whole question of whether someone should do these in-house or job them out varies with the attitudes of those in charge."

Some people wonder why we call it a movie "trailer," if it's shown before the movie. In the past, mini-films were shown before new movies to keep audiences entertained and trailers were shown at the conclusion of a film to encourage viewers to leave.

Over time, movie trailers became an independent art form that began to attract viewers as much as the movies themselves. Theater owners then began showcasing previews first to entice audiences to come back for more.

Many motion picture preview innovators surfaced over the years. Alfred Hitchcock previews were known for their wit and suspense, while Andrew J. Kuehn previews began a new standard of quick editing and thought-provoking narration.

You'll note that many of the trailers for new movies have extremely fast cutting between scenes. Andrew J. Kuehn explains, "When MTV came along... it recognized that the retention, the ability of the audience to observe, had grown faster because of television: It's not a matter of lack of attention span, it's a matter of how much information people can grasp at the same time."

He added, "In the process you accomplished two things: One, you can get more information across. Two, you can hide your flaws more easily." Thus, the modern trailer was born.

Plenty Of Video Sites To Watch Music Videos Online

Watch music videos on MTV and online, like YouTube and MySpace, can provide a wide variety of music to cater for many tastes. You can watch classic hits from the 50’s and 60’s to modern hip hop. You can even watch a conductor with an orchestra go through the prehistoric classics, including the times of Beethoven and Mozart. Many types of music to suit many musical tastes.

These days, you can choose to watch videos online or on your iPod. You can watch emerging talent on YouTube, like a young band trying to get recognition and a recording contract.

You can visit sites like YouTube and Myspace and see plenty of music videos. A lot of the artists appearing on these online videos don’t even have a recording contract, they just create their music and put it online as a music video. There are some bands that do not want a recording contract, as they feel they lose some control of their music, so they only publicize their music online.

There are artists who want to demonstrate their talents online to get a recording contract, so they hope recording companies will watch music videos and recognize their talent and offer a recording contract. This is why many unrecorded artists are on YouTube, MySpace and other video sites.

When I go to YouTube every now and then, I like to watch some of the emerging talent that is available. Some of these artists are really good, although some are shocking, but it may be a matter of taste. Although tuning your musical instrument and singing in tune should not be a matter of taste.

These days, rather than watching dull crime shows on tv or out of date music shows on cable, it is far more entertaining to watch music videos online.

Spreading Your Message With Background Videos

Background videos can be used in movies, tv and special events. You may go to an art exhibition and notice background videos to highlight aspects of the exhibition. For example, the art exhibition may be on the works of Picasso and the background clips may be of Picasso at work and showing different events in his life. Videos make the exhibition much more interesting, not only showcasing the works of the artist but showing the artist in motion.

It is easy to use background videos to reinforce aspects of an event. You may be at a corporate event, it may be the launch of a new product. The speaker may be spruiking about the advantages of the product, but background videos will reinforce the best use of the product. It may be the introduction of a new camera by Nikon. The background videos will show clips of the camera in use to shoot fantastic images.

If you want to highlight a specific point about a product or a service, then using background videos will help to get your message across your audience.

If you want to create your own movies, you can make simple background videos or you can use simple clips to use in your movies. You can easily edit the video clips in Premiere Pro and add it to your movie. You may be shooting a video of a birthday party and you may want to include short background clips of the birthday boy growing up. You can add these little background clips to your movie and give the movie to the birthday boy as his birthday present, from you.

You will eventually have a stock of video clips you want to use in your movies. You may place some of these movies on a web site, or send the movie on DVD to friends and family.

Film Director Is The Author Of The Completed Movie

Film director can be a rewarding career choice. The performance of the crew and the actors is based on the performance of the film director. If the film director has a fantastic concept of what he is trying to achieve with his movie, then the end result should be a great movie.

Sometimes a dud film is made and released to the public, even though the film director knows its a dud movie. There may have been reasons, such as production problems, budget and time constraints.

Sometimes it is due to an inexperienced director. Other times the film director and the actors and the film crew are fantastic, but the money runs out and they have to release what they have.

The film director and the editor may spend months in the editing room, trying to salvage the film, and come up with something that makes sense.

Funny Video Clips To Amuse Your Online Visitors

Funny video clips are quite popular. You can watch them on television, at the cinema and on websites like YouTube.

Some people create their own websites and place funny video clips online. Others can’t afford the bandwidth and hosting costs and use YouTube instead.

You can enter contests such as America’s Funniest Home Videos and see if you can win a prize, or upload your clip to a website for all to see and get feedback from your viewers. They may even give you a rating of your movie.

When I was growing up, we used to watch television show called America’s Funniest Home Videos. I always got a kick out of the show, and would look forward to watching it every day. Now that I am older, I am surprised to see that the show is still on.

It is even funnier to me, to see my five-year-old daughter enjoying the same show that I watched when I was young.
