Researchers use many different kinds of a microscope for their detailed research. Ever since the beginning of modern microscopes in 1674, researchers have been using some type of microscopes for helping cure diseases and to learn more about the world around them.
However, many researchers have moved past the simple light microscopes that were used in 1674. Today's researchers have the world at their fingertips, and thanks to modern technology, the world of microscopes has come a long way.
Others use the scanning microscope and the transmission electron microscope in their research. They are very large and both focus on a vacuum in order to view items. Another type of research microscope is that of the confocal microscope.
It is a step down from the SEM and the TEM, but is still too expensive and complicated to be found in most universities. A confocal microscope uses a laser beam to enhance an item, which can be viewed on a computer monitor.
What makes them like the high school microscopes is that items are placed on microscope slides and in a solution, in order to be viewed.
A microscope for research purposes can prove to be an expensive but much needed item for one to have in their laboratory. However, understanding these devices can take a masters degree.
These are the tools that one uses to unlock the mysteries of not only the past but also the present world, as well as the diseases that plague people all over the world. Microscopy has never been so far advanced as it is today.
