Two other types of the electron microscope exist. The scanning tunneling microscope and the scanning microscope are two very in depth types of microscopes that are used to view specimens.

Both use atoms and electrons to view items, but the tunneling microscope creates a tunneling current between the tip of the microscope and the actual electrons in order to create an image. The scanning microscope can make a 3 D image that can make looking at cells and other minute items more simple and more in depth than ever experienced before.

The electron microscope can make viewing specimens so much easier than ever before. Things, such as cell mitochondria and cell nucleuses, can now be seen and studied in order to better help those who suffer from certain dysplasia.
